Opening Ports on a router

Ok i have a Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL VPN Router with 4-Port 10/100 Switch. I was wondering how do i open ports so i can run certain programs i want on the net, that the router has blocked

your gateway should be 192.168.1.2(.1)

use that address in your internet browser, it will bring you to your router setup.

On a Linksys, go to advanced options, then port forwarding. Enter the ports you wish to open and then choose to enable TCP or UDP or both on that/those ports.
