Default Odd network Behavior

I recently connected a new computer to my network and am having some trouble seeing it through any means other than a ping. I can't see it in My Network Places. I can't see in through Entire Network. I can't create a shortcut to it or map to it with or without the IP. It can map to another machine but only if I use the IP of that computer. The computer is running Server 2003 so maybe there is a permissions issue I am not aware of. I have another machine running server 2003 and I have no issues with it at all. The new machine is on the correct workgroup and has a unique machine name, it is getting a valid IP from the router and it can get out on the net. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it, I am ripping what little hair I have left out on this one.

Thanks,
Dave

Nope, didn't work. And that wouldn't explain why I can't see any other machines from this new server or why none of them can see it. It would explain a login problem but I can't even see the machine to try and log in to it.

You can ping the server from the clients right ?
When you ping the server from the client resolve the hostname via the ping -a command...

First thought is that its a dns issue considering you use ips only.

It sounds like you've got it set up right. There's no firewall running on the new machine, right? You might have to try something like Ethereal (http://www.ethereal.com/download.html ) to see what kind of traffic is really getting to that box.
