i built a new computer and installed vista 64 ultimate on it and installed all the drivers from my gigabyte p43 model motherboard but i can't get it to recognize any internet. I'm still new to vista and cant really navigate it too well, the network places is very different from xp, i cant find any properties. right-clicking and selecting properties brings up a useless box that says connect to network, and i click that and it says no networks detected.

Can you further describe the network topology? Does this computer connect directly to a modem, or is there a router inbetween?
What kind of link lights are you showing on the PC and the modem/router?
do START > RUN > type 'CMD' ..... in the new window that opened, type 'ipconfig' .... what does that output show? is it an IP address in a 169.254.x.x range?

Are you sure the drivers are compatible with 64 Bit Vista?

i think it was the driver compatiblity, had to download drivers.
