| I don't either. I've tried to before, and it nearly drove me crazy because I couldn't figure it out. |

| It depends on the scanner and software. Some Epson, Umax and other more expensive scanners can set up a single computer as a 'scanning station' which can be remotely operated by other stations. The problem is you still have to go over to the scanner and feed and adjust the scanner bed, so why bother. Check your scanner's company website for the utility. |

| i think its possible. When i set up a network, my printer showed up on my networks other computers, and the other computers could print though my computer. I think using a scanner on a network would be similar, the only problem is the host computer has to be on. What you could do is set up a old computer (p166 32mb ram, no cdrom, no sound) something of that calibre running from when you get up to when you go to bed as a dedicated print, scan server.

| it's absolutely possible. for b&w and for color. the only ones that i've worked with though are the multi-purpose printers, scanners, fax machines, that work right off of the network and not as a computer-shared P2P resource. but either way, depending on the manu of the scanner or whatever device.....it's possible but in a home network......you are going to COMPLETELY rely on the software that comes wth it.....don't look for the technology in an operating system.
