Last night my network was working ok until I downloaded and installed a windows update.Security Update for Microsoft Data Access Components (KB832483). Now for some reason cpu2 cannot access the program files folder and cpu1. Everything else is as it should be. I even tried to share the folder and still nothing.

it would be nice to know which operating system you are using. if winXP click start button> help & support and in the search box type "Internet Connection Firewall" read the topic "To enable or disable Internet Connection Firewall". you should disable the firewall using their instructions. if it still doesn't allow sharing you have a less obvious problem.

I have noticed a couple of other things. Along with not being able to access the Programs folder, I cannot access the Windows, WUTemp and a couple of other folders. On cpu1, in Network Places the "c" drive does not have the shared icon, it just looks like a HD icon, under comments it shows \\Mecorp-1\C, when it should be \\mecorp-1\c. The computer name shows mecorp-1. So how and where is it getting the wrong computer name. Also to the right of comments is Computer and under that it lists the C drive as unknown. Also, when I look in View Workgroup Computers just above where it lists the (2) cpu's it saya unspecified. All of this happened after I did the Windows update.
