ummm right:

computer 2 can see computer 1, and access all shared file etc on computer 1.

computer 1 can see computer 2, but cannot access shared files. nothing of computer 2 shows up in my network places, and if you open the computer in workgroup computers, it does nothig for a while, and then a box comes up that says:


computer 2 is not accessible. you might not have permission to use this network resource. contact the admin to find out if you have permissions.

the network path was not found.


any ideas why this is happening? i dont understand why computer 2 can access all of computer 1 properly, but not the other way around.

they are both on the same workgroup etc.

Are you using a hub/switch for you network?
Try assigning an IP Address to both computers.

We have the same problem before, but when I assigned an IP Address to my computers, it solve my problem.

yes, i use a wireless router. the IPs are all done automatically using the DHCP server. if i set static IPs and DNSs, the computers will not connet to the internet properly.

update:

c1 can see but not access c2+3

c2 can see c1+3 but not access c3

c3 can see but not access c1+2


i dont know what an earth is going on here. i tried the setting static IP again, but the c's dont connect to the network properly.
