Default Network Cards...

pardon my ignorance, but do most motherboards, especially newer models, come with built in network cards? or would it be my responsibility to install one if i was putting together a computer on my own? no clue as to what motherboard im getting, but generally, would i have to install a network card?

Yeah, it would be hard to find a new motherboard that doesn't come with onboard LAN.

Yep.. Check the back of your casing, see got any RJ45 port, little bigger than phone port.

Have a look on this home network setup tutorial if you like..

Have fun..

If you get the option, get a Mobo with a gigabit ethernet jack. My ASUS M2N-SLI has 2 gigabit ethernet jacks.
