Default Network Adapter Problem!

Hello there!

Issue:

Wireless Network Adapter has stopped functioning.

Hardware In Question:

Belkin Wireless G High Speed Network Adapter (F5D7051 v1000)
Packard Bell I-Media (Unknown Model Number)

Description:

I have recently restored my computer to factory settings (f11 -> Packard Bell System Recovery). After setting up the computer and loading it to desktop, I tried installing the Belkin drivers from the disc that came with the WNA(Wireless network adapter). This didn't work. It installed some software, but the drivers didn't work, hence no green light on my network adapter and the computer couldn't find any kind of wireless netowkring hardware to connect to my router downstairs.

I then tried to download the drivers from the Belkin site, None of the drivers listed (for the 1000 version or the 3000) worked, I even tried googling it to find any lost drivers that could solve the problem.

I tried around 6/7 different drivers for my exact model, none worked.

I spoke to Belkin and they told me the device doesn't support Windows Vista and wouldn't work as the drivers aren't compatible, neither is the device. However, before the restore, the device worked on Vista for over a year! I even restored about 6 months ago and the device and drivers worked fine that time.

Nothing has damaged the device since i restored, it simply stopped working.

Belkin simply said "get a new one". So going to their tech support is not an open option.

Thanks in advance!

Odd that it worked, since they said it wouldn't. All I can think of is maybe there was a generic driver that it worked with. Hmmmm.

I know it's very odd! I've been trying my hardest to get it to work, I cannot for the life of me think why it worked for over a year yet fails to work now, such a concept makes no sense.

At this right I may have to buy a new wireless device. A shame though, I feel somewhat determined to fix this issue simply because I know for a fact it can work with Vista.

Thanks Oldskool for your input.

Anyone else have a suggestion?
