Default network 2nd comp to internet

hey ppl.
i have a friend who wants to bring his computer over here to access my broadband but i dont know how to set it up properly. or instead of him just plugging the cable from the modem into his comp is it easy to network the comps witha x-over cable to a 2nd networkcard and have him access the net through this comp?

or if any one has better ideas of how to do this can you please tell me?
thanx.

yea, purchase a router, they are relatively cheap if they are not wireless, but remeber to get a good quality brand, D-link, Linksys, Netgear, etc.

As some others have found with cable modems that register the MAC address of the machine last (first?) connected to it, you may have to shut off the cable modem for a period of time and let it "forget." Just make sure what you buy is a router, not just a switch or a hub.
