Question Netgear DG834 Firewall

Hi yall

I am just starting to play around with the firewall in my Netgear DG834. I am a bit of a newbie with this stuff; my old router was a Dlink DSL500 which was hopelessly obselete and lacked cool features to experiment with.

I was thinking about enabling anti-spoofing rules on my firewall to prevent inbound connections from my private IPs, and also to prevent outbound connections from my ISP-assigned dynamic address. I can do this with a Cisco or something because you can specify which rules apply to which interface in which direction but because you can't do this with the Netgear I reckon setting up these rules could break my access to everything, including possibely the router itself.

What do you reckon? Has anyone ever tried this? I reckon the first rule might work, but the second one would break everything (since all I guess all outbound connections must originate from my ISP-assigned address)

Cheers

soho routers are very different from cisco routers. many soho router lack the functionality a cisco router may give you.
