Default need an explanation on fiber optic networking

Hello,

I need a little explanation on fiber optic networking setup. So far now fiber optic is used as a backbone cable to connect one building to another right? Is it suitable to use it as a backbone cable inside the building? (for example using tree topology)

Is there actually a router that has fiber optic port?
I've done some reasearch and there's only switches with fiber optics port.

Thanks.

Well, there are indeed routers that have fiber ports. Fiber, after all, is a medium, NOT a ethernet tecnology. The only thing is that these can get VERY expensive. Do you have some sort of schematic for your network? I would just recommend a fiber - RJ-45 media converter. These are less than $70 a piece.
BTW, some of the brands that have routers with fiber ports are Cisco, Linksys, Bay Networks and Netgear.
