Default Loopback adapter

Has anyone ever found a 'Loopback Adapter' in their security firewalls ??? Just wanted to know if its a possible security risk.

Loopback adapter is a default accepted ip address in my zonealarm firewall, don't know if or how it could somehow be exploited

Supposedly, its one of those MS backdoor monitors of some sort. Wonder if anybody attempted to 'delete' it in their firewalls....and what happened afterwards.
