Default Long distance LAN?

OK so I'm not 100% sure if this is the right term for this but a long distance LAN being one that does not happen in the same house.

Situation: I have a friend that lives in Vermont I live in Washington State :S and we have a game that does not have offical hosted internet play (you might know the game: Fracas) and I want to get the game to hook up to his computer. Is there any tutorial/another topic/help I can get because it would be rather wonderful?

Yea, one of you host the game, if behind a router then use the port forward website sticky on the top of this section.

You could try Hamachi, it works really well. I use it all the time, anything that works over a LAN will work over Hamachi.
