I would like to set a message at the login prompt for my computer lab. Is there a way to this so that it will only be seen at the prompt? Is there a way for me to set it as a wallpaper that can only be seen from the login screen or can I put it in the login window somehow? The computers are in a VLan config tied to a central server. Would I need to set it up at the server or can I do it locally on the individual machines? Any help is appreciated.

Interactive logon: Message text for users attempting to log on

This security setting specifies a text message that is displayed to users when they log on.

This text is often used for legal reasons, for example, to warn users about the ramifications of misusing company information or to warn them that their actions may be audited.

Default: No message.

edit: for workstations on 2000 or greater domain create group policy and apply

if you are on a windows domain you can apply the setting through group policy.


optionally, i'd bet this is a registry entry. you could find it and create a registry merge file for it. then create a batch file to apply the registry merge at login.
