I have pressed the reset button on the back several times , but it doesn't seem to ahve any effect. It is a Linksys WRT54GS, I also ahve two wireless cards that do not seem to want to install properly.. If you have a chance look at my other listing in Networking forum. I cannot seem to get out to the internet, but Limewire and Skype both work perfectly??? Now of course I can't get into router to make any changes either. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

hold down the reset button again for 8-10 seconds. Once the DIAG LED lights up, let go of the reset button. This will set the router to the firmware defaults settings

Yeah, i felt a bit silly when i changed the password lol. Make sure the router is turned ON when you push the button, as the above poster says, push it for a good few seconds until lights make pretty disco patterns (or whatever the router does). This will reset the router back to an access of username: ADMIN and password: PASSWORD (not in capitals). The manual will be more precise, so go read it!!

I'm suspecting you have another post somewhere on this. If you want help there post the link so I can find it without hunting. Otherwise, please explain the situation again, so I know where to start.

Hi,
The post is in "computer networking", but here is the problem. I have my adsl service though a WIFI company WIFIRST. It is provided thorugh an annntenna on my house whiich picks up the dsl transmission (WLAN) wirelessly from a tipi nearby in our village. According to all the literature from them settig up a router inside my house to share my internet connection should not be a problem . You can view it at www.wifirst.fr then go to FAQ. I cannot connect to the internet through my router, and cannot figure out why. Skype works, and Limewire work, they are somehow going around everything not needing specific IP addresses? I am lost and so is Linksys, with whom I ahve spent hours on the telephone. I hope you can help. I cannot get any responses from WIFRIST as their customer service is NIL.

thanks

If certain applications are working, and internet browsing is not, to me it sounds like a DNS issue. This is the service provided by your ISP to "lookup" internet addresses (ie you may find it referred to as a lookup service) on your behalf, hence the need for an ISP. It sounds independent from the whole network thing, and probably on your machine. If the IP addresses are automatically configured, check this in your wireless network options under the TCP/IP configuration. If it is manually assigned, confirm that the IPs are correct.
