Default Local Area Connection Status Help

Afternoon gang, newbie here so bare with me please.

New pc connected with NTL Broadband with zone alarm firewall, McAfee Virus and Ad-Aware.

The activty in the LAC is what i think worryingly high, after being on the net for about an hour just browsing usual sites like BBC, ebay etc my received value can be as high as 131,567,456 and sent as much as 5,254,878.

Having this screen tiled with IE i notice every new page clicked on the net delivers another 150,000 odd or so packets.

Am i being too security concious and need not worry or are there some settings that need to be adjusted somewhere.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks C but already done this with the latest version of Ad-ware and nothing picked up. Not sure if its something to be worried about or not really.

I dunno if Microsoft had included the fix to this (because this is about a year ago) but disable netbios (netbios hackers can use it) and also make sure you have a windows password on each of your user accounts --ESPECIALLY administrator accounts (people can scan using a program called scan x and easily gain access to your computer).
