Default IP Address Magic??? Looking for some insight...

HI ALL...

i was wondering if i can get a domain name regisered to my home ip address through comcast cable.

if so how would i set it up to display a page

ALSO...

What are some other cool things or tricks i can do with my IP address. i can access the internet through my phone and browse websites. i kinda wanted to make it so that i could acces my home computers through my phone, like maybe a simple website or something.

Okay this is very complex for a home line you need to do multiple things. You need to set up a server software wise on your PC as #1, second you need to run something like a program from DYNDNS.ORG because your IP adress changes very often expisally with cable.

And, you need to have a good security system setup because your a target for many attacks now, as well as you need to open up port fowarding on your router.

And, comcast cable is in Canada right? And no offense their lines are WAAAAAY too crowded, and suck compared to DSL in most cases.

thanks for some help i will look into those things...

i am glad i am not in canada (that sucks)... i am using comcast cable in central california and it operates at 99 percent capacity almost 100 percent of the time.(capacity being 4mbps)

keep it flowing though.... anyone have any fun things or tricks to do??
