Default Internet Not Working Problem HELP PLEEZ

okay so i have windows xp. We have different users set up so there are 3 users on my computer. Mine is the main user. The internet on the other users is not working, but my internet does. When i switch users to my sisters name, its like there is no internet connection. I have verizon dsl and im not sure what the problem is. Everything was working fine but i think my sister might of messed something up. Any help is appreciated.

To troubleshoot this, you will need to log in to your sisters account. For starters, can you ping when logged in as her? To run a ping test:

Click on Start>Run type CMD in the dialog box and press Ok. In the black DOS window type Ping yahoo.com and then press enter.

Do you get responses or time outs? If you do get responses, tell us what type of security apps you have running on the system and if you have tried disabling them.

Have you set up different hardware profiles for each user? Have you enabled content advisor or use a firewall? What are the user rights for those that can't connect?

Are all three account part of the administrator group? Like if you go to Control Panel>User it doesn't say limited or unknown does it?

If you can ping yahoo and get a reply, that's GOOD. Now check their web browser setting. This usually indicated an application layer problem like their browser was configured to connect to a proxy server. Check that.

You can ping www.yahoo.com or www.google.com on their account and get back 4 replies right?

If yes, check your firewall setting and the browser proxy setting again.

If you use Norton Internet Security, that's one you could configure to deny certain user account.

Then it's got to be a firewall setup to block their account or their web browser setting (usually the proxy setting).

What web browser isn't working? and do you have any firewall/security application running?
