Embaressingly, the access point is being used for nothing at the moment. It came with my machine.

So then, I need to get a wireless router or a router and another acess point?

If you already have a wireless Access point then all you need is a regular router. It does not have to be wireless.

If you need to get both Wireless Access point and router then get a combo unit where its both a router and access point. they are very cheap right now. I personally like the D-Link product.

D-Link are alright. What you are looking for is a router, if you want to save a small amoint, as you already have an access point, although it might not be a great make, but it'll probably work fine. You should find out if it's 802.11b or 802.11g, if it's 802.11b then it might be worth getting an 802.11g wireless router for the faster speeds, and not using the access point. Also remember to make sure the PCI cards are 802.11g too.

Take a look at the wireless stuff here:

Wireless Networking Part 1

Wireless Networking Part 2

Its very easy reading and include just about everything you need to know. Its a great article.
