Default I am stumped on this one.....

I am working on a network that I didn't set up. It consists of two routers, one with the address 192.168.0.1 and the other 192.168.1.1. They share a server, which serves as the dns server for both workgroups(192.168.0.254). Both can connect to this server with no problem. All Computers on both networks have windows 2000 professional and the server is 2000 server. Basically, a computer on the 192.168.1.1 workgroup has a program that a computer on the 192.168.0.1 workgroup needs. To be extremely specific, I'm tryin to figure out how to map a drive from the computer 192.168.0.200 to the computer 192.168.1.100. I thought about changing them all to the same range, but I don't know if that would throw off the server, since it handles the dns as opposed to the routers. They are both Linksys routers by the way. I am stumped on this one, please help
Thanks

Nate

Did you connect the routers together?

Here's the fun part.......this is at a real estate agent's office, so there are like 20 networks within eachother. The server room has cables and routers all over the place with no labels on anything whatsoever. All I can go on are the IP addresses that I have. I don't think they are directly connected together, but I was hoping since they both are connected to that server(192.168.0.254), I could find some way to connect the two machines

Hi.

First of all no...I don't think you can map a network drive across subnets. Maybe, but I don't think so.
If both PC's can access the one server, then why not just put the file you need to share on the server and handle permissions with the server. (Who can access the file and to what degree)
I personally would think this is a much better solution.

What is the reason that there are two routers on the network?
It may not be neccessary to have two routers. Could you replace one of the routers with a switch?

Their's 2 routers and two networks.
They call it "mapping a network drive" but if the PC is on another router it is not on the network.

Why dont you just use switches?

Try using packet tracer 3.1.

It lets you setup a network and it will let you test it out.
