Default hub home network problems

i'm trying to get a home network set up with a hub.... i have 3 computers, all of which can get internet access through the hub just fine, but the problem is, i cant seem to file share or printer share with the other computers at all...

i have set them all on the same workgroup name, given each of them individual names, but they cant see each other......

can anyone please give me some suggestions?

thank you

Even though they are in the same workgroup, the question is are they in the same network? Can you ping the remote machine IP address? Can you ping the remote machine with using the name?Do you have File and Printer sharing enable? Do you have NetBIOS enable?

yeah,the same as law say.
maybe your computers are not in the same network.
and you must set your own small home network.

One word....

Firewall

You'll need to assign each PC an IP since there wont be any DHCP server in the mix, unless this is also connected to a cable/dsl modem as well, since this will assign IP's. Most ISP provided modems also act as routers.

Now on to the word. If you have any firewalls on the network, make sure they are set to allow file/print sharing.
