Default how to: remote logoff of remote desktop session

i received this error when trying to logon to a server.

"the terminal server has exceeded the maximum Number of allowed connections"


i remotely logged off the sessions using these procedures

Cannot Log On to Windows 2000 Terminal Services with an RDP Client


my senario was a xp client to a 2003 server.

yep. you cannot adjust the number of your seat licenses, although RDC 5.0 allows you to connect to console from remote, which is what you'd have to do. and its a good idea to setup your timeout settings a little leaner probably in most cases. try using: start | run - mstsc -v: (ip of server) /f -console or # rdesktop -0 (ip of server) (from *nix) perhaps. without the () 's btw. oh ps, to make your timeout settings leaner its : Administrative Tools > Terminal Services Configuration>Connections>right click rdp-tcp>properties>session tab> check over ride whatever, and set it to whatever you want, half hour or so. click the disconnect from session radio and you should be good to go.
