I am helping a professor who uses her home computer mainly as a remote desktop, to log in and use her main computer at college, and also to log into supercomputer centers.

I believe she mainly uses putty.

My opinion is that this activity uses very few resources. Am I correct? Or are there circumstances where telnet can demand a lot of resources (memory, bandwidth, ect).

The only way i could think of to check it would be to run it and check it task manager.

Doesn't use much at all. Use process explorer instead of task manager if you want to check though.

Remote Desktop uses 24MB of memory on my computer when running.

My putty sessions are using 2.3MB each.
