Here's a question i'm curious about. I know this can be done... it's what networks are all about, but i have yet to delve into it.

How would i go about logging on to another computer in the network (workgroup) to run programs?

Both computers are running win2kpro. How would i log on from my computer, to turn on a program on another computer in the house, like a dos program or any other program? I know how to log on to view file shares, but how do i get to doing the real neat stuff? How do the computers need to be setup? Is there any certain kind of software to use?? What are the steps involved to start tinkering with this idea??

Well, are you talking about running the programs on the other computer......or running the program on your computer that is located on the remote computer?
If it's the first than have you considered remote administration? Or better yet, Citrix?

What's citrix?

I want to log onto another computer that i am the administrator of and run programs on it from my pc. I don't have a clue how to set that up though.

I noticed win2k pro has a "snap-in" which enables you to log onto remote computers. I haven't tried it yet, but it SOUNDS like what i'm looking for. Anyone use this before?? What are it's limitations?

the snap-in's could be referring to the mmc console. The mmc is able to allow you to remotely configure certain aspects of windows nt/2k/xp os's

When i first set up wi-fi to connect to the internet, i had to connect to my dad's laptop to internet explorer. I just made a shortcut to the app i wanted to run from his machine on my desktop, it asked for my credentials, and it would let me run it.

Not to be ignorant , but wouldn't citrix be overkill unless you have a lot of apps needed to be run simeotaneously by about 5 or more machines?
