Default Horrible upload speed

Hello all,

I have 7/1 cable ISP through cox right now and I'm pulling about 7000kbps down but only putting about 60kbps up. 60 is WELL below the 1000 I should be getting right? What can I do to accelerate/fix this issue?

'speedtest picture coming'

EDIT: Speedtest.net won't give me a result page. But the last run I got about 1000kbps down and 45kbps up.

also, I'd like to say I just tried to run a tracert to Yahoo! and everything past the first hop was * * * *

Is there any reason my tracert gives me request timed out to every website I try to trace too? I mean, if I was just getting slow service I shouldn't be getting a Request Timed out error on every hop.

another speedtest

Your trace routes are going to show *** when there are no return routes back to you or maybe some ACL on the router you are attempting to pass through. Can you go to speed test provided by Cox and post the results?

Can you also explain a little bit of your LAN? For example connecting through a switch - then VPN/firewall - router - or are you directly connected to the modem/router? I would like to rule out anything on the LAN first and then look to the ISP.

My lan is setup like this

Me -->switch -->router/firewall -->modem

The speedtest link you provided shows Your download speed: 14018 kilobits per second
Test Details: 5120 kilobytes downloaded in 2.922 seconds.

and

Your upload speed: 522 kilobits per second

I guess maybe their cable network was just really busy the last few days, it seems to be working well above the rated speeds at the moment. But, a tracert still shows **** for anything past the first line. Is that a problem or is it something to do with my router?
