Default HOME INTERNET software!!!

Theres 6 computers at my house, my computer is the host, because im running the game server
but sometime, my sister downloaded a lot and it takes away lots of bandwidth like 1.5mB/s, slowing down my upload
is there any software that can actually block or limit the bandwidth of each user
for example: i want to limit the fifth PC to 10kb/s, only for the fifth PC, not for the whole systems, or i want to disconnect the particular PC from the internet jss from my PC
thanks

It depends on how your network is setup, if you have a router chances are that you'll need a software on that fifth computer.

Try ezProxy, it has bandwidth control if you have a ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) setup or you can install it on the fifth computer and remotely manage it from your computer.

I believe it's fully functional for 30days after that it's free but you can only have a limited number of groups. You'll need groups to be able to control the bandwidth.

You can find it at http://www.lavasoftware.net/en/conte...y/features.htm

yeh ezproxy should be able to do that for you mate! that is pretty good to be honest, you would have to limit it my IP adress (possible station name) I am unsure if ezp supports mac adress limiting

if you're really adventurous (and have some spare pc's/NIC's lying around) you can set up a "beefier" router/firewall using something like m0n0wall. In there you can set up QoS which can throttle bandwidth for filesharing/p2p apps to the lowest priority.

That way, when no one else is using anything, your sister can enjoy the full amount of bandwidth she is able to. But when other people are doing more "productive" (and I use that term loosely) things they get higher priority and thus aren't as negatively affected.

But this can be more headache that its worth if you aren't sure what you are doing.

Good find mBernhardt, I haven't heard about m0n0wall before and I'm looking at it right now and it looks sweet! I have heard about SmoothWall

If you have a linksys WRT54G rev4 or older or a WRT54GL you can just flash DD-WRT on the router and make use of the Qos functionality.
