Go to ipconfig and see if you've got a Default Gateway.
Then, post back if you do/don't. I had that problem, but on wireless, and I COULD connect with the wire.
If you're wondering why this happens, it's because the wireless is coming from a single source, and your wire hookup is from a router, which could be faulty.
