Well, there are still a few people who can't get a 5mb line in their area, so they turn to dial-up compression as possible temporary relief. If I had it available, I would pay twice the price just to get it. Too bad there is no true way to speed up dial-up for us unlucky ones....

well....i guess i should of had explained myself

if i had to chose between the 2mb free or the 5mb pay lines, i'd chose the 5mb line.
then i've got that little hook on them for if something goes wrong..i can yell at them because i am paying them for a service.

True. Free services always sound good on paper but they are crap in reality. I remember back when people like Juno and Netzero were offering free 56k. Yeah, it was free, but you only had like 20 minutes of online time and it was as slow as **** (and thats comparing it to other dial-up services.)

i didn't realize netzero limited your time???
ya, i figured that it would be slow too...

you just can't run stuff for free very long these day's....cause everyone will hop on the train and wear the thing down waaaaay to fast.
you might have a 2mb line...but heck, tones and tones of people on it...tha's bottlenecks and collisions waiting to happen...
