Default Ethernet help

Hey, I bought a cat 6 ethernet cable to nertwork my computer to our main broadband router, i installed the drivers for the ethernet adaptor on my motherboard but nothing is happening, the connection isnt present and it says the drivers are not updated on the ethernet adaptor when they clearly are.

Please help me as my wireless is really bad.

Sounds like you got the wrong drivers. Double check, and if you are sure they are the right drivers, make sure they installed correctly. To check, go into control panel (windows xp assumption?), system, hardware (i think), and device manager. That menu lists all your computer's hardware. There should be a yellow section with a little warning flag that says ethernet adapter or something of the like. Right click on it and say "update driver", say you will manually install the driver and find where it is on your computer and install it that way. Some driver packages don't automatically install, all they do is unzip the drivers.
