Default Encryption Issue

Question:I have Verizon DSL w/westell modem/router.When I enable WEP encryption my IP address Flashes normal for a second then goes to 169.254.77.204 I then have no LAN connections or internet service.

If I carry the Laptop to work it does the same thing.

Otherwise the LAN works fine,I do not have a clue why it is doing this.as I have tried everything I know to no avail.

Any thoughts on this?

Your encryption keys are not matching up.Make sure that you type in the keys exactly.

I have tried numerous keys, numerous times;several being almost impossible to screw up.all have the same effect.I
have tried the 26 hexadecimal,10 hexadecimal,5 passphrase.................

Even though I appear to still have the signal, after I enable encryption I cannot address the modem until I go back to the desktop and disable encryption.............thanks for responding

any other Ideas?I am sure it is something dumb I have'nt done right.

Did you try ASCII characters instead of hex?
