Question an easier way of updating software on network computers?

please help... i manage a couple of computers here in the office and im really fed up w/having to manually go to each computer to update their software, more specifically, their virus definitions. is there a better way of doing this?like, ill just download from one computer then just send it out to the other computers at a more convenient time when the network is not very busy? could it also be automated? how do you do it?im not yet very adept at managing the network... would really appreciate any advice... thanks in advance!!!

LDAP might be a solution. Check out the link below which gives you a picture of what it is, and different versions available.

Lightbulb Re: an easier way of updating software on network computers?

Thanks Ops Tech! im not very familiar w/unix though and our network here is not on active directory, and there is no real "server".. the network is just a small office network and i think having that root, branch, leaf (w/c is like making a domain in internet?) setup is too complicated to set up for our office... nyway, ill try to learn read more on the link you gave me.. thanks for your idea!

get an A/V that updates itself or sync your av application data folders

the a/v installed already updates itself automatically but prob is that they tend to load the system because they update at the same time... i also want it to apply to other software updates, not just the a/v... but thanks for your suggestion
