Question dsl service

I have recently changed phone services, thus anticipating my dsl to stop working. It has been over a week, but it still works. Could it be that I haven't turned off the computer interupting the connection?

I can't talk about your service, but here in VA, my DSL line is actually provisioned by by DSL provider. They pay the phone company for the data line my DSL uses, so technically, it's not the same as my phone service line even though it's in the same physical sheath (inside my house anyway). Of course, the cost of the data line is conveniently hidden in my monthly bill, so I indirectly pay the phone company of course).
