Default "This device cannot start (Code 10)" Network Connection

Hi All
I' trying to setup a network but am having problems. I know it works as i have used it in the past but have not used it for some time.

I have a onboard LAN (Intel) on a Gigabyte MB 8Penxp useing windows XP Pro, SP 2

After installing drives I get an error message in Device Manager under my network adapters it says "This device cannot start (Code 10)"

I've downloaded all updated drives, Bios updates and windows updates but still cant get it working.

Can anybody help

have you rebooted?
are you sure you got the correct drivers for the nic?
have you tried the Intel site drivers?

Yes I have rebooted a number of times.

I got the drive updates from the gigabyte web site (Intel LAN Drives) specifically for my M board

I've tried different drives and always get the same message

The network drives installed is Intel(R) Pro/1000 CT Network Connection, which is the right one for my connection.
