there is no point in argueing with your father, whether he knows what WEP is or not i doubt he would change his mind from the way you describe your father. i have heard when males get older they build a resistance to change in life. . . .well, either that or your dad's really anal

I agree, your dad is paranoid about your surfing from your bedroom after he has gone to bed!

Sounds like a control issue to me over one of leaving the machine on or saving power,,,

Dad must like you to do as he says,, and that in "his" house his rules go,,, so I would ask him how that lends to learning the art of negotiation... cooperation.. etc,, he is retarding your social growth for the market place where the skills of human interaction, cooperation, acceptance and mutual outcomes rule,,

Tell your dad that if he wants you to be successful in life, that he needs to come to an agreement with you on the use,, offer to pay some of the fees,, provide him a schedule of when you would use the connection ,,, let him know that you are trying to motivate him to try,,

Or,,other option,, buy your own,, pay for it yourself then what can he say,, and put it in your bedroom, with a lock on your door, and dad will have to surf his porn some other way,,

Dad needs a little bit of R'n'R

cheers

Hey one thing I did when my dad was shutting off my gear to get my brother to stop playing at night, was to move the gear into my bedroom. If that doesn't work, if your in high school, goto your schools welding shop and have them make a rough copy of the router and the modem then paint the copies the same color and add a few led's to look the same the put the real ones in your room.
