Default D Link Router

Anybody use the D-Link 524 wireless router? How would you rate it for dependability or just overall for that matter?

I use it! I used to have linksys before and the linksys was much easier to configure. It was hard to get e-mule to work and take off its glasses - if you know what that means...
I dont like the interface - I think it is too complicated for a home router. The firewall rules are not easy to set and the wireless security - well I am not even sure I got it right.
But once its set - it works fine. My linksys used to disconnect me alot and drove me nuts, this one is cute, small and works.
Hope this was helpfull.
one more thing - it does get a bit hot - so i had to move it away from my computer (my 2 fans died on the computer and I was too lazy to replace them so it just sits there with the side open)

Yeah. D-Links are ok, but if it was me I would go with a Linksys.

i go with a lot of cisco products. there is a reason why cisco chose linksys for a partner and not d-link and/or netgear. although....netgear would be my 2nd choice

they all do pretty much the same job. the only real difference i have seen on the job with cable/dsl connections is the linksys tend to have a harder time seeing positive connections. but then I just chalk that up to end user inexperience when it comes to configuring their advanced settings.

I bought a D Link 524 a couple of months ago & the stupid thing died after about 6 weeks. I thought I did my homework before buying, but it doesn't seem like it now. Did I just happen to get a lemon, or is that kind of thing common w/ them?

nah. was a warning i got about a previous avatar i was using. apparently an msn icon giving people the middle finger is not appropriate. i was saving the warning for posterity. or until i come up with a better, more original sig.

I have a d-link wireless router... I've used a few brands... I would recommend going linksys or netgear even...
