Default Counter Strike LAN

For the longest time i have been trying to make both of my computers be able to join the same counterstrike server and play. I have done this before at my friends house and it worked perfectly but i was the only one that wasnt using wireless. I had to hardwire into the router. So heres my specs i hav roadrunner, from my cable modem i have an ethernet running to my linksys router which then feeds the internet to my two computers. I can hav both computers running counterstike in 2 different servers but once i try to join the same one it freezes up. If any one could tell me how to get this working it would be greatly appreciated.
thankyou

You should only need one server. Have one computer run a listen server and all the other computer has to do is connect to that server.

You can see each other on the lan browser windows in CS right? Same workgroup? No firewalls? Able to see each other on the network and connect to the internet? Those are other things that might be causing a problem, or indicate one. Your network setup sounds to be correct, and the only thing that appears to be causing a problem is the double server running. Hope that helps.

thanks that helped a lil bit. Now i can do a 1 v 1 lan but what i really want to do is have both computers join a public server. do u think it might be because my house has the same ip or sumthin so when both ip's join since they are the same they lock up??? i dunno its wierd because they can join different public servers at the same time but not the same public server.

Ypu sure you're using different Steam accounts? Althiugh they will work with the same one, problems can occur with tickets becoming expired.

I have managed to get a few people on a LAN on the same server.
