connection problem

When trying to connect via p2p software. This is the error i get.

your computer does not seem to have an online connection. this may be due to firewalls, or something like that

it will keep trying ot connect to servers until you hit disconnect

or something like that

all firewalls are off, and i can still get online

it happens with more than one program

which p2p apps? if behind a router, you may need to setup port forwarding.

no router, modem is plugged right into computer. use limewire. it use to work then one day just stopped. i then tried bearshare and it also doesnt work. The internet is through my apartment and a friend that also has it does not have any problems so i know it has to be withmy computer.

first things first run malware scans.

Have you checked to see if your ports for these p2p's are open ?
Both of the apps you stated above all use the same network.
6346 is the port you need to have open and accepting connections.

Check your event viewer and look for any Tcpip errors in there.
Check the port in the error.

If your running XP, did you shut off the Windows FireWall?
