Default connecting wireless!

I had AT&T DSL but I was not satisfied and switched to road runner cable.
I had a wireless router (linsys cisco) that I used to use with the DSL.
Now I want to use this wireless router with my cable, too.

When I connect the modem directly, the internet works.
When I connect the modem via wireless router, the internet doesn't work.
(which means obviously my wireless computers do not work as well)

this is basically what it looks like on my network and sharing center :

My Computer -------------- Network ----- x ------ Internet

I HAVE :

1. unplugged every single cord and cable for more than five minutes in as many different ways as I can
2. restarted the computer many many times
3. tried system restore
4. pushed the reset button on the router (modem doesn't have the button)

Is it something I'm doing that's wrong? Like... did I misconfig some setting from the router? (I tried to do all the steps I found in the internet)
Is it my cable network provider blocking my access to the modem via router?

Frustrating.. Please help.

The simplest solution would be to call Linksys support and let them walk you through the setup. yes, i am recommending calling them up. I have done it on my Linksys enough that I now know exactly what to do.

Give it a shot... it is free.

giving linksys a call is a great idea.

Since you are now on cable they will walk you through setting up a mac clone (vs ppoe which dsl uses) on your router.
