Connect two computers to one wireless adapter

I have heard it's possible to connect a second computer to the internet through another computer. So my computer is using a wireless adapter to connect to the internet. If I want to connect a second computer to the internet through mine I have read I will need a crossover cable. Is a crossover cable simply an ethernet cable or something that looks like an ethernet cable but is different? When I had Vonage I had to hook up the router to the Vonage device, and then from their into my computer, would one of those cables work? Thanks for your help.

a crossover cable is just the same regular cat5e or cat6 cable it just the termination of the cables is different from end to end. and yes it is possible to share your internet connection, may i ask what is internet connection? is it dial up? adsl? or cable?
i noticed you said you are connecting thru a wireless adapter im assuming you have a wireless router why dont you just buy another wireless adapter so that you dont need 2 pc's to be on just to use the internet.

If your main PC connects through a wireless router, just add a wireless card to your second PC. It's much better than Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) or bridging, the two methods you can use to make PC-to-PC connections in Windows. For one, you won't have to leave the first PC on 24/7 in order to get Internet on the second one. Two, they'll both have direct connections to your router, their own IP's on the router, etc. It'll probably also be faster, and won't use up unnecessary CPU on your first PC.
