Default conecting with ethernet?

well ive got a laptop and im getting a modem router to connect it and my pc at the same time

the modem im currently using only has 1 usb port so i know how to use usb but the new modem is also going to have an ethernet port so to connect it to the laptop is it just like usb or is there anything else i should know?

You should be able to just plug a standard Cat5 network cable into the ethernet port of the laptop/computer and into the router and it'll work.

The type of cable. Cat5 is just standard ethernet cable. Crossover is another type, but don't use that because it won't work with your modem.

wat about RJ 11 and RJ 45
can i use those to connect to the modem?

I think Cat5 uses an RJ45 plug, so yeah you can.
