This is bad news for the future of Comcast's business practice. This could turn out very bad.

And if it does? I have about 2-3 DSL choices in my area. Wooo!

I disagree. Although, it just looks bad because they are taking something away from customers ... in a sense.

But, in the long run, I don't think that too many customers that have a cable, internet and voice packages are going to break up the package and go with another limitless data plan simply because comcast is placing a cap on data that the customer will most likely never reach anyway. I have a feeling that they are testing the waters and the cap will go even further. But, hopefully, when they introduce the new cap (if this is the case) they will have other packages available.

Heck, my grandmother hates paying $55 a month for interwebnets that she uses for email. Perhaps they will have a HS cable limiting package for 39 or even 29 a month that would cap it at 100.

She should just switch to basic DSL, you can get it for like $20 a month. Does she not live in a DSL area?

Perhaps your area's services do. DSL is just fine where she lives though.

@ ferarri - As for placing her on a DSL package ... she gets a deal on cable/internet/phone and people like her aren't going to break up the services just because there is a 250GB cap. It would cost them more in the long run. (Slightly more) I was just using her as an example of a person that wouldn't want to switch necessarily. Come to think of it though, she lives in the sticks Perhaps it's not even available ...

If I lived on my own, I'd have DSL no doubt.

But, since I live with my parents, I just suck down the Comcast bandwidth they pay for. But that's at the expense of me upgrading the router every so often. Haaaaa. At least there's no monthly bill though!

Whenever they enforce this in the city, people are going to be locking down their gateways like Sally McSecurity ... there's going to be shootings occurring downtown if people see other people on the streets that still have bandwidth. Gangs are forming to control bandwidth in a certain section of the city....muggings, riots, car bombings... ITS GOING TO GET NUTS!
