| I have a client who we installed Cisco vpn on his laptop , He is using a linksys wrt54g with speedboost router. When he is connected to the vpn he can not access any resources or the internet. When he is disconnected from the vpn he can access the internet instantly. I have tried updating his wireless driver. I have connected him to the internet bypassing the wireless router which works fine.. His laptop is a dell d610 running windows xp pro and has a Dell 1490 dual band wlan mini card |

| Junior Techie | I meant by one or the other, its either you're using VPN or the general internet. When he's accessing the internet or company resources, he's not using VPN, when he does use VPN, he can't access the internet or the company resources. The gateway and addressing is fine I think since everything is working prior to connecting through the VPN. Also, VPN is a tunneling method so its point-to-point, not point-to-multipoint so during VPN, you cannot connect to anything other than your destination and nothing can connect to you. To overcome this issue (if it is crucial) use a split tunneling method. It will allow you to access any resource in your local or wide area network as well as the VPN. |
