Default which circuit city router

Hi,
I just got a gift card for ciruit city, and decided to spend it on a wireless router. As I have very little knowledge of this subject I would greatly appreciate any help.

My internet connection is high speed cable, and the gift card is $75. I would not need a long range, as it is a small apartment.

Circuit city has routers from $30 and up, could anyone please help me decide if its worth buying a more expensive router or just go with the cheapest.

-thanks

Dlink, Belkin, or Linksys: Look for one with 4 LAN ports and 1 WAN port. For wireless, look for one with Wireless G. Your going to also have to buy a client card.

Meh, they're all the same. Maybe they come from different parts of China...

Anyhow, just get any "G"+ router and I bet you'll be happy. Then put some security on (encryption for the wireless) before your neighbors use up all your bandwidth...or better yet, sell the key for $.$!

So the Netgear Wireless Router (WGR614) they have on sale now for $30 is a good choice then? This is the cheapest one I could find there. Or should I spend an extra $10 for the D-Link Wireless G Router (WBR-1310). Is there any difference besides the brand?

Nah, like I said, they're all practically identical. I've used nearly every brand under the sun setting up different networks - and beyond that, Netgear is one of the "known" or "name" brands, so you'll be safe with that.

@peter,
I like that open network, hah, but if only you could see the reactions of people - but, wow. I need to try some similar stuff, just to friends/family that use my wireless - I can tell them it's their computer and they'll be confused for quite some time...! Is that your site?
