Default CanT GeT INTERNET!?!

im on my moms computer.. because i formated mine and now i cant get connected to the Internet... we have Adelphia as our cable service.. and a router hooked up to it split between my Moms PC, Dads PC, My PC, (and a friends only cuz he stayed the night last night)... but my moms computer is obviously gettin an internet connection.. and mine wont, even tho its hooked up to the router like everyone elses.... can someone pleeaasssee help me so i can get on the internet!!!!!!! HELP!!

what kind of router do you have? try putting 192.168.x.1 and substitute the x with 0, 1, or 2. one of them has to work. if they dont, check all your connections and cables, then right click on net work neighborhood on your desktop and go to properties. in there, check to see if your 10/100 is connected, and right click to get into the properties. click the status tab to see if you are assigned an ip like 192.168.x.x

i GoT it.. i didnt have a driver for my motherboard installed to use my onboard LAN... thats gay.. !!! YAAAYY!!!

Also try and reboot the router and modem, if that does not work. Turn off the router, then the modem, leave for 1 minute, turn modem on and then the router after all lights on modem have stopped flashing.

Actually, that's pretty typical. Even though I have a later Windows XP install disk (post Service Pack 2), it still doesn't have drivers for my Asus K8V SE either. Unless the computer is fairly old, you always want to make sure to have the Ethernet drivers on CD or floppy. Once you get the network adapter working, you can download any other missing drivers, but without the network, it's a bit trickier to download them.
