Default Can't connect to Internet

Hi,

I have a cable modem and have 1 computer running fine through the internet connection and the router.

When I connect my 2nd computer to the router, Gateway PIII, win98, 3com card. I cannot connect.

Any help on how to trouble shoot this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ok, lets see...

1st. I would bypass the router to make sure this machine can connect in the first place.

2nd. Plug it all back into the router and run an ipconfig from 98 machine. Make sure the 98' machine is communicating with the router.

3rd. Ping the router ( default gateway )

.... lemme know what happens.
