Cannot connect to the internet

Hi all,
i have just built a new computer and have it all running but i cant connect to the internet, i am using the gigabit lan on the asus crosshair motherboard and whatever i seem to do, i cant get on the internet. Has anyone got any ideas of what is wrong.

Do you have the correct drivers installed for your NIC? Go into device manager and see if you have enabled the card, check drivers, etc.
