Cant type in web pages but can in non web programs

I have a new laptop we recently sold to a lady. It will type just fine in word pad and related programs, but as soon as I try to type in a search engine or forum or anything on the net, it acts like the curser is disabled. The antivirus is trend micro and I have disabled it in the start up and in services, in fact I shutdown everything in startup.

Our first thought was the antivirus or touch pas was not working correctly but have tested those ideas.

Weird problem, have you tried a different browser, like firefox or opera and such ?

i have not tried that, we dont use other browsers but we may need to do that for testing, i will update if we decide to try this
