Default Can I network win98SE comp. and winXP comp.?

I have been wanting to upgrade from windows 98SE to windows XP for a while now but there is one problem I might have.
The problem is that all the computers in my house are running on 98SE and are networked together.

Can I still network my computer with WinXP to the other Win98SE computers and play LAN games, transfer files, ect...?

Would XP PRO be better for that than HOME?
