| Hello everyone, First post on these forums. I have a question. I would like to share my Cable bandwidth with another computer I have in the house. The computer with the Cable connection is running Windoes 2000 and the other is running XP. However, I don't think that should be a problem. The cable is connected through USB. I was fooling around with it today and I got the partner computer to recognize the connection and it even says it is connected but I can't operate Internet Explorer or go online. It says it is assigned by the DHCP. I can't get past any of this and I need some help. Thanks a lot! Demonaz Edit: I am using a crossover CAT 5 cable. |

| May i make a suggestion? i was in a similar situation as you are now but i decided to purchase a wireless router. the cable modem is connected to the wireless router and my computer is connected to the wireless router. This way, my brother can use my internet connection eventhough my computer is not turned on. Just my .02

| Have you checked the Ip of the machine unable to connect? Have you tried to renew that address? Enabling the ICS when running as you are is one step to alleviating your problem, so try those things and post again if you have problems. |
