Default BR41 Broadband Router

Does anyone have any information on this router?

I have searched online and there is only a manual online but this does not explain how to reset the router or how to get to the routers homepage.

it says use http://192.168.7.1 , But this does not work and it has not been removed from the box before I opened it last night.

If anyone knows anything about these routers or some way to reset them or make them work without the tried and true technician method of kicking first asking questions later please post

Cheers in advance

Is this the Linksys BR41? If so, the default is 192.168.1.1 not 7.1

Reset it by simply holding the reset button on the back in for more than 15 seconds (to be sure).

Hiya,
No it's not the linksys one there's no reset button on the back plate.

Power in, serial port,WAN, 4 x ports on the back there is no reset switch on this or even inside it when I pulled it to pieces. It will not update thru the serial as there is no way for the pc to know that there is anything attached to it

When you connect via serial cable, you aren't using Ethernet anymore....you are using a COM port. Both are serial communication based...just not the same interface. So when you connect to a device through a COM port to the back of a computer, you are going to most likely need a null serial cable and to use hyperterminal to interface with the device. What brand/make model is it?

there is no specific brand.

I sent a friend out to get a router for me and he came back with this.

if you google BR41 broadband router you come up with a couple of different websites and they are the right router theres just no info on how to do anything with it.

But heres a pic of it

Look, I'll tell you right off the bat. This is scary looking device.

If we get this working for you, it WILL ultimatly fail within 1 year. Regardless, I can already tell by the manual that it will need to be reset once about every 1 to 2 weeks (hardly reliable.)

I will try to help you work with it however, you will need to do a few things first. Make sure that you read the manual inside and out. Call the store and ask who supports this device.

This kind of situation is typically easy however i'm not going to claim I know the brand of device we are working with here. I have never seen it and perhaps it would be best....before troubleshooting from us begins that a channel has been opened and closed with your support for the product that you bought.

If the STORE doesn't even know who supports it, I would suggest taking it back, and exchanging it for a more well known brand of router... Doesn't seem worth the hassle, if there is no support for this. What happens if you do finally get it working, then it stops after a few months...

I think you would be better off with a better router.
